Building Procedures
- We first begin the process of construction by coiling the Nichrome wire and wiring it through the seat of the bench. it will create a zig zag pattern though the sitting part of the bench so it could be heated thoroughly.
- After the bench is wired we will begin to start putting it together, we start by welding the hollow base with the wiring in it together to form the base of the bench. The base may need more support so we will weld an additional support bar under the base. After the seating part is constructed we begin to put the legs on.
- The seat will have to be sprayed with rubber to prevent the metal from becoming too hot to touch
- The legs will be 8 inches so the people sitting would have about 1.5 feet of leg room from the ground to the base of the bench where they were seated. The legs will be applied straight up and down not at an angle.
- The backrest will consist of an 18-inch rise that goes back at an angle.
- We will create the cover by connecting planks of laminate wood to canvas and connecting wheels/rollers to the ends of each plank.
- The Cover will have railings two inches thick running 5 feet up and 2.5 feet out over the seat.
- These guides will be placed at each end of the bench. We will attach spokes on the edges of the rail coming out perpendicularly periodically. These will be lined with thin aluminum sheets to provide a smooth passage for the wheels of the planks of the cover.
- The top end of the rails will be closed to prevent the cover from sliding out.
